I felt the need to come here, so I thought that others might too.

Christine Martins-Leal started this blog a little over two years ago with the hopes that students, parents, co-workers and friends could all keep in touch. I couldn’t think of a better place to say good-bye, or just share a favorite memory.

    I am so sorry to hear about Ms. Leal’s passing. My son was in her class last year and absolutely loved her. She was his “most fun” teacher to date. She obviously cared so much about her students and went out of her way to make my son feel special. She attended several of his Little League games this summer which was amazing to me given her busy schedule…I’m sure she will be missed by all.
    Goodbye Ms. Leal, you will not be forgotten.

    I have this wonderful picture of Ms. Leal and my daughter Maricela taken the last day of school. Their both “Smiling” from ear to ear. This same picture is also, in Maricela’s room and in office.

    My Heart is full of sadness, for Ms. leal’s Parents, Family, Friends and all her 4th grade students present and past. She love teaching…

    Hey, Mrs. Martin-LEal!!! This is soooo shocking!!!!!! I can’t believ this!!!! You are one of my favoriest teachers I ad ever had in my whole life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You treated us student like we were family!! There wsn’t anything you wouldn’t do for us!!! You were so dedicated. I just hope your ok there up in heaven!!!!!:smile: Can inherit your blog!?!?!?     WHEN I FOUND OUT WHAT HAPPEND I CRIED. ITS HARD TRYING TO HOLD IT DOWN BUT YOU LOVE THAT PERSON SO MUCH THAT IT COMES RIGHT OUT OF YOU FROM YOUR HEART AND YOU KNOW THAT IT HAPPENDS FOR A REASON BUT YOU CANT HANDEL IT I THINK MS.     Mrs. Leal I couldnt believe when it happened I thought it was a joke I miss you so much it’s so crazy. You went to some of my performances and I gave you a hug in june. that was the last time I seen you. I have been thinking of you since the accident, sometimes I can’t even focus. My dad and mom were so shocked to hear it. My dad told me a long time ago you worked with him in the snack bar when they had cross country and he told me that you said ” Natalie is a great singer, nobody could ever beat her” I love you as if you were in my family. You taught me how to do things in a different way and everytime i said I couldnt do it you always believed in me and said I could do it and I did. But why does a person like you have to leave you were so nice did things for people encourged your students was dedicated at everything and many more. I don’t know what to say anymore I am just to sad you left, you will always be in my heart

    I still can not believe that this happened. It will not sink in my head. Why? You were going to take me to Cold Stone, then spoil the baby and we never had a chance. You and Monica were the first to take me under your wing last year when I got to Mark Twain. I don’t know how I am going to walk by your room each and everyday!     This is so unreal. I think the true measure of a life lived is not what material possessions you have but the number of lives you impact. I think you will be happy to know that your life was one BEST lived. You had an impact on so many lives and through that your legacy will continue far beyond your passing.     Anyone who knows Mrs. Leal knows that she was the Queen of text messages. I would always give her a bad time about blowing up my phone with texts. I kept telling her i don’t have a text plan and that each time she text me it was 15 cents! It seems kind of silly now, cuz i would give anything for one last text. ;-(

Leal this is very hard for all of us that were in u’r class because we all know how u were so fun and always happy i still remember the time when we went to Sacramento!………………it was so fun !!!!!!!!well all i want u to know is that we miss u and that u will always be in our hearts….like mrs.     It is hard to believe that you are gone. Never in my life had I met someone who was willing to go above and beyond for anyone like you did. One of the many times I was in the hospital you were more than willing to do my plans or help me out with any and everything despite the fact that it was 2:30 in the morning. When I felt I couldn’t take things anymore your home was open for me just to get away but like Maya said your not here with us anymore but you are watching over us with the rest of the angels. I honestly believe if it was not for you I wouldn’t have be close to the teacher I aspire to be. You always pushed yourself to do better and that is what I have always wanted to do since I saw that in you. I will miss always bugging you in the morning for stupid questions and everytime I drive in to work, your car will not be there anymore and the Good Morning Sunshine! I know it is not goodbye forever, I will someday see you soon. Well, thanks for everything you have done for me and the many lives you have touched. Your FTD pal ;)

    I am so sadden with you gone. You were such a wonderful friend and I knew I could always count on you. I have so many great memories of you and I ask myself what I am going to do without you around. I am so used to your invitations, going to lunch together, getting your text messages, hearing you excited about ice cream, seeing your passion in teaching your students….. I know you will be watching over us. I love you!

    You never realize how much someone touches your life until they are gone. You were one of the happiest people I knew, and the fact that you aren’t going to be around to make us all smile, saddens me deeply. It always amazed me that the instant I texted you, I received an immediate response. The last message you sent me took up so much memory that I had to erase every text and voice message on my phone. I even complained. If I would have know then I wouldn’t have. Every time I see the sun shine or enjoy my Starbucks I will think of you fondly. I miss you. Keep and eagle eye on your eagle’s nest.

    Mrs. Leal,even though I wasn’t in your class,I am still taking it hard.It seems so uneal, like a dream.It’s crazy how someone can be there one day, and the next day they can be gone forever.I never really thought of it that way before and now I am going to live life to the fullist and treasure every single moment.

    i cryed and cryed and usually it helps you get over it but to me it hasent been working well as i said you are

    It was Christine that brought my wife to me after my car accident 2 years ago. She stayed with her the whole time. Not for any other reason than she was our friend.

    Mrs. Leal was so much more than a friend to so many people. To me, she was my friend, but also my gym partner. There were many days that we would run into each other in the hallway and she would ask if I was going to the gym. “You’re gong to the gym today right? You know you want to go. I think you need to go. You know you really want to. So, you’re gong right?!?!”

    But it wasn’t just the gym. It was Friday and Saturday nights, and anything else that was going on. “Your going right? You know you want to go. You should go, and have fun. I know you want to go.”

    Mrs. Leal taught me to always have fun with everything I do, and to always make time for your friends.

    We love you chica!

    Hey Sunshine,
    I can’t believe that you’re gone. On wednesday, I thought we’ll give her her b-day gift on friday (cause it was payday for me). I thought I had time. I hope you know how much you did for me and for David. You were exactly what he needed. Thanks for the talks, the advice, the encouragement, but most of all thanks for being the sunshine in my life.
    I’ll always remember your smile. You made such a difference in David’s life and for that I’ll be eternally grateful.
    I know you’re looking down on us, feeling bad that we are so sad, so I’ll try to smile more.

    Thanks for giving 110% in all that you did. You were one of kind and heaven is lucky to have you. I’m glad that I had a chance to know you.

    Christine, I just wanted to say how much I am going to miss you. I’m so glad that me Chris, and Savanah went to see you the second week of school. You were the best teacher, you had such a strong and positive impact on Christopher’s life. Savanah was so looking forward to having you for a teacher. She would tell everyone I’m going to have Mrs. Leal. I will never forget what you did for Chris. Now you get to be his guardian angel, please watch over him and help guide him. You were also a great friend, and I thank you for that. I thank God that I got to know you and that Chris had you for his teacher. You will always be loved.     I got to know Mrs. Leal over the past year and she, like the other teachers that my kids had, became a friend. I spent some time talking to her at the end of last year and she told me a lot about why she decided to teach and what was important to her.

    Mrs. Leal thought that every kid was important. She told me that she loved her job and that she looked at each child as “one of her kids”. This is why she attended swim meets, baseball games and other events that she was not paid to attend. She attended because the kids were important!

    Mrs. Leal told me that she taught summer school because she liked to help “her kids.” She told me that she really liked teaching and being with “her kids”.

    Mrs. Leal spent a lot of her time trying to encourage students to be confident. I heard her tell more than one of her students that “you can do it, just keep trying.” If you look at the top of this blog it says “I know I can, be what I want to be.” She wrote in at least one year book for the student to “follow her dreams.”

    These days are very sad days as we mourn her passing. We are all looking for good ways to honor Mrs. Leals memory. I think that Mrs. Leal would like to be remembered as one who made a difference to her students. She would be most pleased if her students remembered her encouraging words and tried a little harder when the work got a little tougher.

    There is no better legacy for a teacher than to have her students succeed.

    They stand up for injustice….
    They don’t take “NO” for an answer when they believe there is a BETTER solution……

    They go without new things so their children can have them.
    They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

    They LOVE unconditionally.
    They know that a HUG and KISS can heal a broken heart.

    They cry when their children EXCEL and cheer when thier friends get Awards.
    They are Happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage.

    Their Hearts break when a friend dies.
    They have Sorrow at the loss of family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no
    strength LEFT……

    WOMEN come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes..
    They’ll drive, fly, walk run, e-mail or “TEXT” you to show how much they care about you.

    The Heart of a woman is what makes the world Spin!
    Women do more than just give birth.
    They bring JOY and HOPE.
    They give COMPASSION and IDEALS.
    They give moral SUPPORT to their FAMILY and FREINDS.
    WOMEN have a lot to SAY and a lot to GIVE!!!!!!!!

    Mrs. Leal i didnt have the chance to have you in a class, but what i`ve heard of you, makes me think that you are & will be always be a nice teacher even if your not here with us anymore, but i know that you are watching over all of us.     I was just going through my stuff and I found like 2 pictures of you. I was just staring at it for a long time, thinking of the good memories we had and just found myself in tears. Whenever people talk about you, I always start to cry and I try and cheer myself up by thinking that your gonna be mad at me for crying and that you might throw something at me!!!LOL I don’tLOLO as much as I used to anymore, but I try to be happy for you!!!!

    Sometimes you don’t realize what you have until it is gone. Until know, I don’t think I realized what an impact Ms. Leal had on my child, how wonderful she made 4th grade and how now so many other children will miss the opportunity and experience of having her as a teacher.

    I agree with Mr. Rowe, succeeding would be the ultimate legacy. As these children grow and continue their education, the knowledge and determination she implanted will also grow.

    She wrote to my child that she planned to be there for every milestone in his life. With the knowledge and zest for learning she gave to him, she will still be there.
